Yellow Daisy Festival

Stone Mountain Park in Georgia played host to Texas on Tour at this year's Yellow Daisy Festival. The winding roads and trails inside the park were filled with beautiful arts and crafts from all over the U.S., and the park itself came alive with the sounds of Texas' own contemporary jazz-grass band, MilkDrive. While enjoying the sights and sounds of Texas on Tour, visitors competed for prizes, which soon became a hot commodity throughout the event. Nearly every guest had their heart set on a Texas on Tour baseball cap to keep them shaded and cool on the warm Georgia afternoons. Texas is famous for outstanding sports teams, so when Texas on Tour fans make their trip to the Lone Star State, they will be well equipped to check out one of our teams in action.
We had a blast at the Yellow Daisy Festival, but it's time to head northwest to Missouri. You can find Texas on Tour at the Taste of St. Louis the weekend of Friday, September 28th through Sunday, September 30th. It's the second to last city in our 2012 journey, so don't miss your chance to catch Texas on Tour!

On the Waterfront

We had fun spending time at the On the Waterfront Festival in Rockford, IL, but it is time to bid farewell. From free green screen photos, to our virtual reality kayaking adventure down the waterways of Texas, and a live band straight from Austin, Texas; we welcomed visitors to join in the fun with a mini vacation to Texas right in their own backyard. Texas on Tour is a free virtual tour of Texas that encourages guests to discover and experience for themselves all the exciting vacation options Texas has to offer.

We love to share great insider tips of where to visit, what to do, and what to see while in Texas. Elizabeth of Rockford, Illinois was so delighted with how enthusiastic and helpful our staff members were to share their knowledge of The Lone Star State that she has decided to travel to Texas with her family. We can’t wait for Elizabeth and the rest of our new friends from Illinois to visit us in Texas soon!

We are on the road and quickly approaching the Yellow Daisy Festival in Stone Mountain, GA from Thurs., Sept. 6th through Sun., Sept. 9th. Come kick up your boots with us in the Peach State this weekend - we hope to see you there!

Minnesota State Fair

This weekend, Texas on Tour had an action packed stop at the Minnesota State Fair! We welcomed thousands of Minnesotans and gave them a taste of Texas in their home state. On the hill and around the corner from Heritage Square, the Discover Texas Dome stood big and bright against the Minnesota skyline. Austin natives The Lost and Nameless Orchestra, provided the musical backdrop and set the stage for an awesome visit.
Locals lined up for cookies at the delicious Sweet Martha's Cookie stand. Friends and family put their heads together and used teamwork to come up with the right answers to the trivia questions to win the coveted Texas on Tour t-shirt. A number of our trivia contestants came from the University of Minnesota's Milk Run 5k, and we gave them a true test of wits and Texas know-how.
Two local runners in particular took their picture in front of the Texas live music stage and let their praise of our great state fly. “We love Texas!" they said, "It is vast, but each city is unique and there is something new for us to see every time we visit. The only thing we usually wish for is more time!"
We hope to see some of the same smiling faces that greeted us in Minnesota in our own backyard soon. Though we're sad to wrap up our time in Minnesota, we're thrilled to rock out at the On the Waterfront Music festival in Rockford, Illinois over Labor Day weekend. Hope to see you there!
